Seeing is believing and believing is knowing and knowing beats unknowing and the unknown.” – Philip Roth
When it comes to success, seeing really IS believing. It’s that simple.
Embrace the power of visualization, and you’ll know what we mean.
Once you have a particular image in your mind – an image of what you want to become – you’re a lot more likely to go forth and make it happen.
There’s a famous story about Jim Carey and how he made his success this way. Mr Carey was once a nobody; an ordinary guy trying to make his way in the world.
But he used a very clever visualization technique to get where he is today. It’s super simple – but it proved very, very effective.
We all know Jim Carrey as a famous comedian and actor. But a few decades ago, he was as unknown as any other guy trying to get a break.
Mr Carrey is a smart guy, though. He revealed the secret to his success during an appearance on Oprah in 1997.
Back in his younger days, he was broke. His future looked bleak.
But, instead of giving up, he decided to make a plan.
He got hold of a check and wrote it out for “acting services”. He dated it for Thanksgiving 1995.
The sum on the check? Ten million dollars. The recipient? Himself.
Then he put the check in his wallet and carried it everywhere he went.
Mr Carrey said he looked at that check every morning. He visualized the day he would receive that $10 million.
It didn’t take long. Five years later – just before the due date on the check – he was offered the role in the movie “Dumb and Dumber.”
The pay? Ten million dollars.
And, as we all know, Jim Carrey is now one of the highest-earning Hollywood actors. The movie Yes Man grossed $230 million worldwide, which earned him $30 million and put him on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list in 2009.
Okay, so you’re not a Hollywood actor. But you ARE an entrepreneur. And visualizing your dreams is your fast track to success.
The power of dreaming is not to be underestimated. It’s a matter of relentlessly pursuing your goal and working towards it every day.
